For charities & community groups

One platform for your charity’s website, donations, memberships and more.

CharityHosts pairs a professional Drupal website with CiviCRM — the open-source CRM built for nonprofits. Online donations, memberships, event bookings, email newsletters and supporter records all live together, so your team always has the full picture — set up, hosted and supported by CharityHosts, specialists in Drupal and CiviCRM for the charity sector.

How it fits together

Migrating an existing site

Still on Drupal 7? We'll take the pain out of migrating.

Drupal 7 reached end-of-life in January 2025, so sites still running on it no longer get security updates — but that does not mean starting again from scratch. We migrate existing Drupal (including Drupal 7) and CiviCRM sites onto CharityHosts, carrying your content, donor records and configuration across with as little disruption as possible. On a different CMS or CRM entirely? Get in touch and tell us what you have — we will work out the best way to move it.

How we work

Agile development, built around your charity

Every plan includes our agile way of working. We plan and deliver work in sprints — the length agreed with you, based on what suits your team — so you always know what’s being worked on and when it’ll land. After each sprint we hold a short review meeting to walk through what’s shipped and agree what’s next — no waiting months for a big reveal. Between meetings, our support portal keeps you up to date in real time: log requests, track progress, and see exactly where things stand, whenever you need to check in.

Why CharityHosts

Built for charities, not adapted for them afterwards

Purpose-built for charities

Not a generic website builder with a CRM bolted on — a platform designed around how charities actually work.

CiviCRM — the nonprofit standard

Already trusted by charities and nonprofits worldwide for donations, memberships, events and email campaigns — not a niche add-on, but proven, well-supported software.

Organised support, not a call centre

Support requests go through a proper helpdesk system, so nothing gets lost — but every ticket is read and answered by CharityHosts directly, not passed around a call centre.

Secure and GDPR-friendly

Hosted on infrastructure powered by renewable energy — with GDPR-friendly configuration as standard.

A fraction of a bespoke build

A bespoke website, donation system and CRM typically costs £5,000–£20,000+ as a one-off project. CharityHosts can build to that same standard at competitive rates.

Open source — no lock-in

Built on Drupal and CiviCRM, both open source. Your site and data are yours — not tied to one supplier’s proprietary platform.

About CharityHosts

A specialist platform, not a call centre

CharityHosts is a managed hosting and support service built specifically for charities running Drupal and CiviCRM. Rather than treating charity websites as one product among many, CharityHosts focuses on this combination — so updates, security and support are handled by people who know the platform inside out.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is it hard to use?

No. Day-to-day content — text, images, pages, news and events — is edited through Drupal’s standard editor, which is no harder to use than a word processor. We’ll walk your team through the basics when your site is handed over.

Can we update the site ourselves?

Yes. Your team can manage content directly. Anything involving the underlying code, modules, design or CiviCRM configuration is covered by your support plan, or available as ad hoc work.

What happens if we need help?

Every plan includes a direct line to CharityHosts. How quickly we respond, and how much support time is included, depends on your plan — see our hosting plans.

How do you manage ongoing work and support requests?

We work in an agile way, planning and delivering changes in short sprints rather than one long, unpredictable project. You’ll also have access to our support portal, so you can log requests, see what’s in progress and stay up to date without waiting on email.

Do you support Gift Aid?

CiviCRM includes Gift Aid tracking, and we can help configure this as part of your setup so eligible donations are recorded correctly from day one.

Is our data secure and GDPR-compliant?

Your site and donor data are hosted securely, on infrastructure powered by renewable energy. We configure things in a GDPR-friendly way as standard — though your charity remains the data controller.

We already have a website or CRM — can you migrate us?

In most cases, yes. Get in touch and tell us what you currently have — we’ll look at the best way to move everything across with as little disruption as possible.
